Description

Sweet and tangy tamarind chutney that can make all your chaats and appetizers tastier.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup tamarind pulp (found in Indian stores) or soak a slab of tamarind also found in Indian store.
  • 1 cup jaggery powder (found in Indian stores)or sugar.
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Boil the tamarind and jaggery with the water.
  2. Keep stirring and allow the jaggery to dissolve completely.
  3. The chutney will thicken gradually – check the salt once it thickens. It should be thick enough to pour but not runny. This will make a lot of chutney.
  4. Store in glass jars in the fridge or freeze them in ice-cube trays.

Notes

You can also buy tamarind chutney from the Indian store. Buy a tamarind-date chutney and store in the fridge.
